Micro-STX is a compact 147mm x188mm format processor carrier board supporting high performance graphics MXM modules. Intel introduced this 5” × 5” initiative (an initial name for Mini-STX) back in 2015, and the company wanted to create a highly-integrated small form-factor platform with interchangeable processors for PC makers. The platform was not supposed to support any add-in-boards, and therefore wouldn't overlap with Mini-ITX and Micro-ATX. ASRock was among the first brands to jump on the Mini-STX bandwagon in 2016, but it did not take the company long to adopt the form-factor for compact gaming computers.
