The popularity of the Raspberry Pi has been immense, over 25 million of which have been sold up to February 2019. The project was originally designed in order to get children interested in computer science in schools and developing countries but has since found its way onto the hobbyist, commercial and industrial markets. While the ‘standard’ Raspberry Pi was never designed for industrial applications, the Raspberry Pi Foundation in April 2014 launched the compute module which was aimed at business and industrial users who wanted to move to a suitable hardware platform.
At BVM we have often been approached by customers who have prototyped a system using a Raspberry Pi but have been unable to take the next step and turn their prototype into a real product. Raspberry Pi Prototype to an Industrial Design
Using our decades of experience in designing systems for both our own product lines and bespoke customer projects, we are able to work with you in order to understand and agree the product specifications. Once we have an agreed specification our electronic engineers can develop the schematics and layout the PCB, while in parallel our mechanical design team will model and design your custom enclosure.
When the initial units have been procured, we can then write and bespoke software applications, configure any operating system images and take the end product through any necessary compliance testing. Finally, when the product has passed its customer acceptance testing, we can supply fully built and tested units from our production facility near Southampton. Being a ISO9001 registered company since 1995, you have the assurance that BVM have in place the correct quality systems to ensure that we can reliably meet customer needs
