Introduction to the Customer
Our client possesses over 40 years in the building of its reputation & expertise as a leading independent service provider to blue chip customers for a variety of market sectors with its headquarters in the UK and regional offices in Perth, Western Australia, Singapore and Nigeria. Our client’s expertise is in the provision fuel management systems for ocean going vessels with deployments in over 300 vessels world-wide to date, also providing top-quality engineering resources, energy-efficient products and a strong commitment to carbon reduction.
The Challenge Facing Our Client
With a particular regard to a time-sensitive situation because of obsolescence and non-notification of a pending EoL (end of life) on their current IPC solution, our client urgently sought an alternative supplier capable of providing & supporting their requirements for a 15″ marine certified touchscreen Panel PC solution to fulfil an immediate 15pcs ship refit.
The sudden obsolescence of their current trusted Panel PC product presented a significant challenge; not only did they need to swiftly identify a new marine Panel PC from a new supplier – a supplier they needed to put their complete trust in to supply on time & technically support, but also make a speedy evaluation to qualify the Panel PC was fit for purpose – both from a hardware and bespoke operating system performance perspective.
The Solution
With its extensive portfolio of industrial and embedded computing solutions, BVM quickly reacted to address our client’s needs. Liaising with long term partner Winmate – and knowing of their established history & product series in the supply of marine certified Panel PC products, BVM offered the marine certified touchscreen Panel PC, R15IH3S, configured with our clients pre-identified specification for their key features, namely :-
- 15″ 1024 x 768 TFT with pre-integrated pCAP touchscreen for user interaction.
- Intel 5th Generation Core i5-5350U @ 2.20GHz, to ensure reliable and efficient performance of their application.
- Edge-to-edge narrow bezel design and fanless cooling system for silent operation and securing of a maintenance free system
- On screen keyboard to enable functionality and display control.
- Compliance with industrial marine standards IEC60945 4th Edition, DNVGL-CG-0339 and IACS E10.
- Custom configuration & deployment of Windows 10 IoT LTSC 2019 Enterprise operating system
The Result
BVM rapidly provided a sample unit of the R15IH3S panel PC to our client for evaluation. Following a speedy and successful approvals process, BVM fulfilled the customer’s immediate requirement by delivering an additional 15 units for immediate deployment to meet our clients install program. As a testament to our commitment, BVM continues to supply the Winmate R15IH3S for the duration of its availability lifespan of (at least) 5 to 7 years, ensuring long-term support for our client.
Additionally, BVM’s commitment to solely working with OEM partners with products manufactured on long life-time availabilities ensures that the Winmate R15IH3S will remain available to our client for some time to come – and will also provide a follow up program running behind it to ensure extended availability & upgrade of the current solution once an EoL situation is reached.
