Introduction

Our client, a global leader in oil field services and operating across 120 countries, provides comprehensive engineered solutions for oil well drilling, formation evaluation, completion, production and reservoir consulting.

The Requirement

With a commitment to both innovation and efficiencies, our client sought a bespoke ruggedised portable PC solution to streamline its in-field test & monitoring processes – one which could integrate their test electronics in the format of an LCR (inductance (L), capacitance (C) and resistance (R)) meter in order to provide a functional test unit with portability & deployment in demanding environments.

The system was to comprise of a high bright TFT touch display to enable good daylight visibility, driven via an embedded PC platform. The system needed the fitting of our clients test equipment and a range of i/o connectors to bring out external connectivity. The system was to be used outside where weather and immediate surrounding environment could be harsh, consequently needing to meet IP65 ingress protection certification.

The Solution

BVM produced a bespoke PELI 1400 Pelicase portable PC solution, comprising a 3.5” single board computer with an Elkhart Lake J6412 SoC processor on board (producing no more than 10W TDP) and a 10.1”, 1280 x 800 high bright TFT with pre-bonded projective capacitive touch interface.
